# Step 2：Set Up Your Proxy

After purchasing a traffic plan, your order is activated instantly. You can configure your proxy settings — including authentication method and session type — in the **Proxy Setup** section under **Traffic Plan** in your dashboard.

Traffic plans support authentication via proxy sub-accounts(Username/Password) or IP whitelists.

To keep things clear, we’ve covered the two authentication methods in separate sections. See sections [**Username/Password Authentication**](https://kindproxy.gitbook.io/kindproxy-docs/user-guide/get-started-with-residential-proxy-traffic/step-2-set-up-your-proxy/username-password-authentication) and [**Whitelist Authentication**](https://kindproxy.gitbook.io/kindproxy-docs/user-guide/ip-whitelist-management) for more details.
